How to Sell 3D Print Files Over 20MB on Etsy
Binary STL spends 50 bytes on every triangle and stores nothing else. A detailed 32 mm miniature is a few hundred thousand triangles, so the mesh lands between 15 and 60 MB before you add a pre-supported copy. A 200 mm bust with pores, chainmail and cloth folds passes 300 MB on its own.
Etsy's uploader takes 5 files per listing, none of them over 20 MB. A kit that prints as 40 separate parts, in supported and unsupported versions, with presliced plates for the printers your buyers actually own, does not fit into five slots at any size.

The arithmetic is fixed by the format. A million-triangle sculpt is a 50 MB STL because 50 bytes × 1,000,000 is 50 MB — there is no compression in the container and no instancing to exploit. Zip it and you claw back roughly 40%, which still leaves you an order of magnitude over 20 MB.
3MF is already zipped and lands smaller for the same geometry, which is why sellers reach for it. It does not rescue you either: a 150 mm model sliced at 50 microns is 3,000 layers, and the presliced file carries an image for every one of them.

The complete delivery in this niche looks like this:
Part meshes (STL)
One file per printable part, so buyers can rescale, swap the loadout, or reprint the arm they snapped. Every slicer reads it, which is why it is still the default.
3MF project files
Zipped XML that carries units, per-object settings and the build-plate arrangement. Smaller than STL for the same mesh, and the plate layout is half the value.
OBJ (plus MTL and textures)
For buyers who paint in a modeling app or print in color. ASCII geometry runs several times heavier than the same mesh in binary STL.
Pre-supported versions
Supports baked into the mesh at the angles you tested. It is the difference between a clean resin plate and a failed one, and it doubles your file count.
Presliced files for common printers
CTB, GOO or PWMX for resin, gcode or a sliced 3MF for Bambu and Prusa. A resin preslice stores a compressed image per layer, so these are usually the largest files in the release.

Why Etsy's 20 MB × 5 cap bites here
Here the count is the wall, not the megabytes. A terrain set or a mech kit is 30 to 80 printable parts; supported and unsupported doubles that; presliced plates for two printer families doubles it again. Etsy's 100 MB total ceiling per Etsy listing holds about one bust.
So the release gets flattened into one zip that still does not fit, and what gets cut is the pre-supported set, the Bambu 3MF, the alternate heads. Those are the exact things buyers name in reviews when they choose between two sellers of the same sculpt.

The workarounds sellers use — and what they cost
Every 3D print files seller has tried at least one of these.
1. Decimate the mesh until it fits
Run the sculpt through a decimation pass, dropping triangle count until the STL slips under 20 MB.
The problem: Decimation deletes the thing buyers paid for. Curved surfaces go faceted, scales and fabric folds flatten, and at 32 mm the polygons are visible in the cured print. Push it harder and you get non-manifold geometry that slicers either refuse or quietly patch wrong.
2. Zip and split into multi-part archives
Break the release into part1.7z, part2.7z and so on, each squeezed under the cap.
The problem: A buyer on an iPad cannot open a split archive at all. One missing volume and nothing extracts, and their only recourse is you — eighteen months after the sale.
3. Ship the raw meshes only
Drop the pre-supported versions and the presliced plates. Let buyers support and slice it themselves.
The problem: You inherit their failed prints. Half-cured parts, warped bases, refund requests and one-star reviews about a model that printed perfectly for everyone who had supports.
4. A PDF with a Google Drive or MEGA link
Upload a one-page PDF to the Etsy listing; the real files live in cloud storage.
The problem: A popular folder hits Drive's download quota and locks out paying buyers for the rest of the day. Links rot, folders get reorganized, and every buyer from the last two years messages you when they do.
5. Deliver the files by hand after the sale
Send a thank-you PDF through Etsy, then email a WeTransfer link when the buyer asks for the real files.
The problem: Every order becomes a task in your time zone. Buyers who bought a digital download at 2 a.m. expect it at 2 a.m., and the wait shows up in your messages before it shows up in your reviews.
